Portuguese Custard Tarts (Pasteis de nata)

Ingredients

  • 0.5 milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 200 sugar
  • 1/2 cornstarch (Maizena)
  • Vanilla bean or powder packet
  • 1 lemon peel
  • 6 egg yolks

Instructions

  1. 1In a saucepan, put 0.5 milk, the cornstarch, the vanilla and take to the heat to thicken.
  2. 2Remove and let cool a little, then add the 6 yolks.
  3. 3Stir very well and take back to the heat.
  4. 4Line the molds with puff pastry.
  5. 5Fill them with the cream.
  6. 6Take them to the oven again to brown the cream.
  7. 7Make the puff pastry.
